Petition: Give priority to Ealing's Cinema and set a date for completion.

Petition to the new owners of the Ealing Cinema site: St George.

Unfortunately the Ealing Cinema site has been sold to another developer AGAIN. In August 2016 it was announced that the site had been sold by Land Securiites to St George PLC, the developers of the still-unfinished Dickens Yard development.

Cllr Jon Ball said:

"Ealing residents demand that a new cinema is built as soon as possible, after this sorry saga of delay after delay.

"I have concerns about St George taking over the site. I will be seeking assurances that St George will be going ahead immediately to implement the Filmworks development that Land Securities planned."

Ealing has been without a cinema for almost a decade, and this is the second time the site has changed hands because the developer has decided not to start construction.

Will you sign our petition to the new developers St George?

We the undersigned call upon Michael Bryn-Jones, Managing Director of St George PLC to make the construction of the already planned Filmworks scheme a priority, announce a completion date, and provide reassurances that there is still interest from Picturehouse Cinemas to run the venue.

This is unacceptable, we’ve been waiting for years for the cinema to open again!

I have been going to this classic and iconic cinema since the 1970’s. It is a heritage site in Ealing and it is talked about with the strong and steep history of film making in Ealing. So much of my youth and heritage has been taken over by private investment building concerns which have altered Ealing’s make up. The historical significance of film making in Ealing should be preserved and a cinema in Ealing Broadway should be resurrected to embrace and celebrate what is wonderful about Ealing, London, W5.

Please stop this development stalling yet again! We have been hotly anticipating this exciting venture for so many years I couldn’t remember and it would stop people travelling out of the borough to get their cinematic fixes.

Ealing is the home of British Cinema. It’s a disgrace that we don’t have our own cinema. It prevents local people enjoy films in their home town. It prevents local film makers (such as myself) organising film festivals to promote their work & Ealing itself. Please, please build us a cinema asap.

I think we’ve waited long enough for this project to be started, let alone finished.. i hope it proves fruitful under the new owners.

I would much rather go to the cinema in my own Borough than travel to the cinema in Richmond. I am a retired person and I think that a cinema in our own Borough is essential. Do not deprive us of this or keep us waiting any longer.
