Today Charles Kennedy, former Leader of the Liberal Democrats, visited Ealing Southall where the Liberal Democrats are in pole position to beat Labour.

Mr Kennedy accompanied Liberal Democrat campaigner Nigel Bakhai on a walkabout to meet local residents, traders and shoppers on Southall Broadway.

Charles Kennedy said:

"Ealing, Hanwell and Southall need a local MP who will stand up for the whole community, someone who will speak out after a decade of Labour neglect.

"Nigel Bakhai is the man for the job.

"He achieved an astonishing result in 2005 because he took action on the issues which matter to local people, from community safety to local health care.

"His record of action is leading people to back him as their choice for Parliament."
