Tackling crime in his area is one of Nigel Bakhai's top priorities.

Ealing and Southall residents say they are worried about rising crime locally - that is the verdict of a massive crime survey carried out across the area by local campaigner Nigel Bakhai.

Residents say they feel less safe than a year ago, and up to half of all residents have fears about going out at night. These results echo official statistics which show rising problems of car crime, robbery and violent crime in the area.

Nigel Bakhai, who chairs a local Police Safer Neighbourhoods Group, says, "When people are afraid to go out at night, something is seriously wrong. We need a local MP who understands the problems that crime causes in our area. We need real action to cut crime."
