This site has news and information about the Liberal Democrats in the Ealing Central & Acton constituency.

Following boundary changes, from the next General Election the constituency will cover Acton, Southfield, Ealing Common, Walpole, Hanger Hill and Ealing Broadway. The Shepherds Bush part of the previous Ealing, Acton & Shepherds Bush constituency is no longer within our constituency.

Local Lib Dems have selected Jon Ball as the parliamentary spokesperson for Ealing Central and Acton, which requires a swing of only 1.5% for the Liberal Democrats to win. The swing achieved by local Lib Dems in the recent Ealing Southall by-election would be sufficient to elect Jon Ball as the Lib Dem MP for the new Ealing Central and Acton seat.

Local Liberal Democrats have chosen Jon Ball (who represents Ealing Common ward on Ealing Council), as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Ealing Central & Acton seat.

Lib Dems Launch Petition Against Heathrow Expansion .

Hundreds of signatures have already been collected by Ealing Lib Dems on a petition against expansion at Heathrow, which can also be signed on-line.

Missing Money in the Council's parking account?

At the recent Acton Area Committee meeting (6th June) councillor Malcolm who was asking questions about Acton-based Control Parking Zone schemes (CPZs) found out details concerning that the council have frozen the Parking account.

Wed 25th Apr 2007:

Jon Ball supports Earth Day.

Local Lib Dem parliamentary campaigner, Jon Ball participated in this year's international Earth Day on Sunday 22nd April, by taking old computer equipment to Maxitech.biz, who were collecting the equipment for reuse or recycling to benefit charity NCH and to give IT job training to disadvantaged London residents.

Lib Dem Councillor Checks Out The Parking Attendants Who Now Have Cameras.

Since the council recently introduced the Lib Dem plan to give all parking attendants cameras, councillor Gary Malcolm spent a morning with a parking attendant to check out whether the new scheme is working.

A budget of hidden risks and wasted opportunities.

Local Lib Dem finance spokesperson, Cllr Jon Ball, has branded the Tory budget "an unimaginative budget; a budget of hidden risks and wasted opportunities." Speaking in the Council's budget debate on 6th March, Cllr Ball attacked cuts in funding to organisations providing luncheon clubs to vulnerable residents, money wasted on a botched recycling consultation producing unclear results and the continuing selling off of public assets such as community centres.

Mon 5th Mar 2007:

Lib Dems Support Car Clubs In Southfield and Acton.

Local Liberal Democrat councillors voted to press ahead for a number of car club parking bays (see the Word attachment for proposed locations) to be introduced on The Avenue, Acton Lane and Fairlawn Grove and a number of other locations in Acton.

Sat 3rd Feb 2007:

Lib Dems Call For Acton Mainline station to have more staffing and Police Coverage.

At the Council, Business and Community Partnerships Scrutiny Panel meeting (1st February) the police mentioned that there will be 18 extra police officers to serve transport locations in the borough. These would be used on buses and at train or tube stations.
