Last year, the council planted a large number of trees on Scotch Common. They were well received as the space was quite bare and boring. However they were not looked after, and some of those that survived the last summer are already showing signs of stress.
After the original planting it was obvious that they were not being watered and during the dry spell they were showing signs of distress. Some disappeared without a trace, leaving holes in the ground; perhaps stolen.
This year several trees look as if they are dead or dying.
We believe that the council should replace the dying and missing trees and look after them this time. The Common will be improved a lot.
