Massive clean air win for Ealing Lib Dems

Ealing Liberal Democrats motion to improve air quality was resoundingly passed at the national Lib Dem conference on Friday 11th March 2022. It is now our party's policy.

The motion drafted by the Ealing Liberal Democrat team was summated by our own Councillor Jon Ball and moved by London Assembly Member Hina Bokhari. The motion notes the dangers caused by air pollution and calls on local authorities and Government to take action to make sure we all have the chance to breathe clean air. The party is calling for:

  • The implementation or extension of Clean Air Zones
  • The introduction of legally binding national limits for particulate matter and other pollutants
  • Funding to support buses, taxis and private hire vehicles to switch to clean fuels.
  • Increased funding to local authorities to tackle air pollution.
  • Empowering local authorities to:
    • Install more pollution sensors near major roads and at every urban school.
    • Publicise local air quality issues including publishing live pollution levels from their pollution sensors.
