The London Mayor's plan to close Ealing and Southall police stations is totally unacceptable. Ealing Labour council is offering no alternatives while people's safety and communities are being put at risk. We have already lost our counter service at both Ealing and Southall police stations. Now the police stations will be closed.
Local police stations create a visible presence. Officers spend more time in the area close to the station as officers come and go for their breaks and at the beginning and end of their shift.1,158 signatures
Jo Baldwin Trott, Liberal Democrat campaigner, served as an officer for Avon and Somerset Police. 'In the area I policed in Bristol the crime rate significantly increased when the local police station closed. The fear of crime increased due to the reduced visibility of officers. The local criminals knew that the police would take longer to respond and took advantage of this.' Read Jo's longer piece on this issue here.
Sonul Badiani - Liberal Democrat candidate for Ealing Central and Action: “We all know that knife crime in London and Ealing is out of control. I’m ready to fight this issue as your future MP, and I’ve already started work on the ground by setting up a local working group to tackle knife crime. With your help, I am critically fighting to stop our local police station from closing. With a Labour Council and Mayor subjecting us to cuts and failing to attack knife crime in Ealing, now is the time to speak up for our community. Please sign our petition (below) and help save our police station and fight knife crime.”

We the undersigned call on London Mayor Sadiq Khan and the Government to keep Ealing and Southall police stations open and fund the service properly; and Ealing Council to stand up to the Mayor and the Government.
We will include your name and address when submitting the petition to Ealing Council and Metropolitan Police.

The estimated completion date has just slipped back by another year and we are going to have to wait until 2020. The saga continues.
Ealing Common candidate in the local election, Craig O'Donnell said "Ealing has a long and distinguished history of film making. We deserve a Cinema."
Ealing has been without a cinema for almost a decade. The site has changed hands twice because the developer has decided not to start construction. Now we have further delays.
Will you sign our petition to the developers St George and the Council?
We the undersigned call upon Piers Clanford, Managing Director of St George PLC to make the construction of the already planned Filmworks scheme a priority, and to open the new cinema as soon as possible; and upon Ealing Council to do all in its power to expedite this.
Note that the original petition text was "We the undersigned call upon Michael Bryn-Jones, Managing Director of St George PLC to make the construction of the already planned Filmworks scheme a priority, announce a completion date, and provide reassurances that there is still interest from Picturehouse Cinemas to run the venue."
We will include your name and address when submitting the petition to Ealing Council and St George PLC.
