Meet Alastair
Alastair Mitton is the local champion we need in Parliament.
He will be fighting for the fair deal our area so badly needs.
Alastair was born in Birmingham but moved to Spain with his family at the age of 10. Growing up abroad not only allowed him to massively broaden his horizons, to gain the perspective of speaking another language but also the understanding of what it is like to be an outsider.
Alastair moved back to the UK at the age of 18. Not long after he moved to Ealing, first in Perivale and then in Hanwell. He had a unit in the Ealing Broadway Centre for many years as well as trading at Portobello Road and Camden Lock with his silversmith wife Paulette and has run the jewellery unit in the Christmas Market since it’s inception.
Alastair is a passionate campaigner for protecting our local environment. Recently, he succesfully protected Warren Farm, opposing Ealing Labour's plan to turn it into sports grounds rather than the Local Nature Reserve it will now become.
He loves our local area, and was chairman of Hanwell Carnival for 5 years. He says that seeing 30,000 happy faces on Carnival day gave him a incredible buzz.
Alastair cares about our area and will continue to fight for better community policing. He believes that nobody can truly thrive and be proud of their area if they are worried about being the victims of crime - and a return to proper community policing which engages with local people, gets more bobbies on the beat and proactively deals with the causes of crime is the best way to make that happen.
Alastair is determined to speak up for the twin Liberal Democrat ideals of economic competence and social compassion, ideas that are alien to Labour and the Conservatives respectively. We only have to look at the control freakery of Ealing Council to see what an unfettered Labour government will produce and just a glance over our shoulder at the last 14 years of Tory governments is enough to send a shudder down the spine of even the hardiest.
Alastair is determined to be a different kind of MP - one who actually listens to you and fights for a fair deal for Ealing Central and Acton in Parliament. On July 4th, vote for Alastair Mitton to be our next MP.
