Poor air quality is a major public health issue and we take seriously the need to reduce emissions from traffic and improving public transport. However, we have concerns about the Mayor's ULEZ expansion and call for a better support scheme
In January 2023 the London Assembly debated Mayor Sadiq Khan’s budget for London for 2023-2024. The Liberal Democrat Group secured an historic amendment to the Mayor’s budget – it is simple, affordable and will be effective in helping people in Outer London to cope with the Ultra Low Emission Zone expansion.
The Lib Dems proposed:
The amendment was carried unanimously. Labour and the Conservatives abstained.
At the next consideration of the budget in February. the Mayor rejected our proposals. Lib Dem Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon and the Lib Dem group will continue to push for more mitigation measures to go hand in hand with the ULEZ expansion.
Ealing Liberal Democrats have been putting pressure on Labour-run Ealing Council to get the Mayor to improve the support scheme for Londoners to help them make the transition to cleaner vehicles
We the undersigned support Liberal Democrat calls to amend the ULEZ expansion scheme with a longer lead in time for people to change vehicles, expanding who is eligible for help with the scrappage scheme and the need to invest more in outer London bus services
Sadiq Khan has announced that the ULEZ scrappage scheme has been expanded following criticism this week @EalingLD https://t.co/XKQpmjLz2b

The @EalingLD Opposition Group welcomes @EalingLabour's late change of stance and agreeing to the @LondonLibDems calls for the extension of the ULEZ scrappage scheme.

It's time for @MayorofLondon to listen to the voices and concerns of Outer London residents.
