Ealing Labour sets aside a decade of dithering in Southfield after Lib Dem action!

Local engagement in Southfield ward by Liberal Democrats and residents has driven forward agreement for a new crossing on Southfield Road and local resurfacing schemes around the borough.
At Cabinet on Wednesday 16 April 2025, Ealing Labour agreed to implement a new crossing on Southfield Lane Acton after a decade of dithering!
Ealing Liberal Democrats have been promoting the need for a crossing for over ten years working with local residents through doing speed checks with the local police and drawing attention to the issue in Council meetings.
Southfield Councillor Gary Malcolm said: “Liberal Democrats say it is terrific that we have continued to press Ealing Council to take action on helping to reduce the speed of traffic where someone died in the last few years. There are lots of children who cross Southfield Road to get to the Southfield Rec and then to their school, the Ark Byron Primary Academy. Liberal Democrats hope the Council can consult residents and install it as soon as possible to reduce the number of road safety injuries in the future.”
Liberal Democrats have also successfully raised the issue of poor maintenance from the Labour Council which allowed roads to decay and deteriorate. A number of roads in an awful state in Ealing Common and Hanger Hill as detailed below will now be repaired thanks for the good work of Liberal Democrats including Councillors Jon Ball, Connie Hersch, Athena Zissimos and Jonathan Oxley.
