Ealing Lib Dems with Hina Bokhari OBE AM - WLO Consultation

The WLO is a proposed new orbital rail service intended to improve public transport between outer north-west and west London without requiring passengers to travel through central London to change trains, using existing railway infrastructure.

Liberal Democrat Councillors attended the session organised by Transport for London (TfL) on Saturday, 24 October 2026 at ActOne Cinema, Acton.

Councillor Gary Busuttil and the Ealing Liberal Democrats have been consulting residents via a paper and online survey: https://digitallibdems.typeform.com/to/MccOGcuE

Councillor Gary Busuttil was joined by a number of other Liberal Democrat Councillors, including Gary Malcolm, Athena Zissimos, Mark Sanders and Connie Hersch, as well as Assembly Member Hina Bokhari OBE AM, where they asked questions about initial residents' feedback about the closure of rail crossings.

Councillor Gary Busuttil, Shadow Transport Spokesperson, said: “The Ealing Liberal Democrats believe that the first thing that needs to be carried out is a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) in the surrounding areas close to the line that may be affected. Though TfL are engaging with residents and getting their views, they need to be more open and honest with residents on how the WLO will affect them, and a TIA would partly address this issue. It is important for a public body to publicly engage and to listen and act upon the concerns of residents.”

Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member Hina Bokhari OBE said: “The West London Orbital will be a welcome addition to the local transport system. But it's vital that resident concerns are listened to during the consultation process and that TfL conduct a clear impact assessment to fully inform future decisions.”
