Ealing Lib Dems increase demands for a more open and transparent scrutiny of Ealing Labour safeguarding failures
Ealing Liberal Democrats asked to see the Impact Review Report sent to Ofsted.
Lib Dem Councillor Adam Keenan, Shadow Spokesperson for Children's Services has continued his scrutiny of the failing Ealing Labour children services by asking an oral question at Full Council on Wednesday, 13 October 2026.
Lib Dem Councillor Adam Keenan, Shadow Spokesperson for Children's Services said: “In July 2026. Ofsted judged Ealing Council to have failed to keep vulnerable children safe from sexual abuse, domestic abuse, and neglect. The report is damning - operational and leadership failures at the Council are to blame. To make matters worse, you knew of this issue over two years ago, when it was first flagged by Ofsted in May 2024. Why have you failed to act?”
As a supplementary, Cllr Keenan asked if the Impact Review Report sent to Ofsted could be shared with opposition Councillors as they had not seen it.
The portfolio holder indicated that there may be a potential meeting to follow, but did not clarify if they would share the Impact Review Report submitted to Ofsted.
This follows on from an Open Letter (Friday, 4 September, copy in Annex A) sent to the Ealing Labour Leader and portfolio holder to demand more transparency and openness on addressing ongoing failures in safeguarding for “at risk” children. Although Ealing Labour is required to provide an action plan to Ofsted and so far, have failed to share that with the Ealing Lib Dems.
Indeed, Cllr Adam Keenan has been pressing the Chair of the Scrutiny Committee to dedicate at least one meeting solely to look at these serious issues of child safeguarding. This has now been allocated as a key agenda discussion but not until next year in 2027! He continues to press Ealing Labour for actions and progress on this critical issue.
Ofsted highlighted those children at risk of domestic or sexual abuse and / or those liable to physical harm or neglect as being especially vulnerable in across Ealing borough.
It is shocking to see that Ealing Labour have failed so profoundly over the last two years to safeguard the vulnerable children of Ealing. Ealing Lib Dems are especially concerned at the explicit mention by Ofsted of poor leadership as Ealing Labour have been in power for sixteen years although their representation of all peoples of Ealing seems to be increasingly limited.
Lib Dem Councillor Adam Keenan, Shadow spokesperson for Children’s Services said: "Liberal Democrats are appalled that Ealing Labour seek to delay and cloud issues rather than be open and transparent with residents and Ealing Lib Dems who are fighting to protect the rights of each child to have a life free of harm, violence and neglect. I will continue
to fight on for residents on this matter."
