Ealing Lib Dems pledge to reverse Ealing Labour closure of 10 children's centres
Ealing Liberal Democrats are making a fully costed pledge to keep all children's centres open, despite a disappointing Judicial Review outcome in the High Court in April 2026.
Sadly, the High Court has ruled that Ealing Labour can close ten children's centres despite intense local opposition. This means Ealing Labour will close the following centres across six towns of the borough.
- Acton (Maples)
- Ealing (Hathaway and Log Cabin)
- Greenford (Windmill)
- Hanwell (Copley Close)
- Northolt (Northolt Park & Academy Gardens)
- Southall (Grove, Windmill and Greenfields)
Ealing Lib Dems have been actively working within community groups opposing the closure:
- Proposing a fully funded budget amendment to keep all of Ealing's children's centres open in March 2025 and in March 2026.
- Tabling a motion at Full Council to reverse the aproach by Ealing Labour at June 2025 Council which Ealing Labour voted against.
- Campaigning to keep the centres open with Save Ealing's Children's Centres and supported the petition.
- Supporting demonstrations outside of Perceval House against Children's Centre Closures.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Jonathan Oxley - Portfolio Lead on Children's Services said: “The Liberal Democrats are hugely disappointed for the parents of the two-year-old who brought the appeal against the decision by Ealing's Labour council to close her children's centres. The Liberal Democrats are committed to reversing all the closures of children's centres if we win the local council election on 7 May. This is a fully costed pledge in our manifesto. We appeal to Ealing's residents to turn out and vote out this discredited Labour council and save our children's centres.”
