Ealing Liberal Democrats encourage residents to vote in the 7th May 2026 elections

A vote in this local election to make a difference, despite many residents feeling gloomy about politics.

Ealing Liberal Democrats encourage you to get out and vote in this local election on Thursday, 7 May 2026, wherever you live in Ealing. Voting is your democratic right. It is your vote, use it to make a difference.

Ealing Labour has had a stranglehold on the borough for the last 16 years, holding 59 of the 70 councillor posts available, bookended by the last Labour PM and the current one, as well as five Conservative PMs. The Labour London Mayor has been in power for over 10 years as well.

Many residents want a change and are fed up with the Tories and the Labour Party, so in many parts of Ealing, people have said they will be voting Liberal Democrats when they used to vote Conservative or for Labour. A message echoed to Ed Davey MP, national Leader of the Lib Dems, on doorsteps across the borough.

At the 2022 local elections, Ealing Liberal Democrats took over as the Official Opposition and have held a weak and complacent Labour administration to account. Ealing Lib Dems have delivered:

  • Safe housing for families abandoned in shipping container housing (Meath and Marston Courts).
  • Safer street lighting (causing Ealing Labour to U-turn and reverse its decision to dim our streetlights at night).
  • Reduction in garden waste charges and cut bulky waste charges (another Ealing Labour U-turn).
  • Worked with local community campaigners to designate all of Warren Farm as an official Nature Reserve.

The Ealing Lib Dems aims at “Six to Fix” as priority areas for improvement:

  1. Protecting our public services
  2. Delivering a clean and safe Ealing
  3. Supporting our local businesses
  4. Protecting Ealing's reputation as ‘Queen of the Suburbs’
  5. Treating residents with respect
  6. Building cohesive communities through sport

Councillor Gary Malcolm, Leader Ealing Liberal Democrats, said: “Liberal Democrats and local people are fed up of paying an ever-increasing Council Tax bill whilst the Council fails on getting the basics right. Our streets are dirty and unsafe and the Labour-run Ealing Council wants to close TEN Children's Centres and two Adult Day Centres that are vital for our borough's vulnerable residents. Residents deserve a fair deal with a Council that can get its basics right. This manfiesto sets out our ‘Six to Fix’ - the bold plans we want to deliver in partnership with residents to help make Ealing the place we are proud to call home.”
