Lib Dem Leader Sir Ed Davey MP Visits Ealing
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey MP visited Ealing recently (Saturday, 28 February) to campaign alongside Walpole candidates William Francis, Matt Mellor, and Ksenia Maximova ahead of May's local elections.
Sir Ed Davey spoke to local residents in Walpole ward to listen to their concerns. People reflected to him that they are concerned about the direction of the Labour government and the poor performance of Labour-run Ealing Council, particularly on dirty streets, crime, housing repairs, and the proposed closure of children's centres.
He also spoke about the work of the Liberal Democrat Official Opposition and congratulated on their success of reversing Labour's decision to dim streetlights, protecting our environment, and providing a strong opposition local people need.
Sir Ed Davey MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats said: “Many residents I spoke to are fed up with both Labour and the Conservatives.”
“As Official Opposition, Liberal Democrats are providing the alternative that residents need. I am here to back the local champions Matt Mellor, William Francis and Ksenia Maximova who will work hard to gain your trust this May.”
Councillor Gary Malcolm, Ealing Liberal Democrat Group Leader said: “Ed Davey's support shows that Liberal Democrats are increasingly confident that they will make gains from both Labour and the Conservatives at this May's local election.”
“Only the Liberal Democrats have a positive plan to clean up Ealing, make Ealing safe, and stand up for local people and business.”
