Residents have seen more digging and activity in Lammas Park recently as the works continue to drag on.

The Liberal Democrat Leader of the Opposition, Councillor Gary Malcolm, has written to the Leader and CEO of Ealing Council calling for an independent review of the Lammas Park Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) scheme.

Feedback from residents appear to show that the scheme has failed include:

  1. Poor initial design with obvious problems like building to close to playground.
  2. Ongoing failure to explain why the scheme is needed, and how it is progressing. Decisions taken behind closed doors and not in the open.
  3. Lack of consultation at the beginning so no mandate in the local community.
  4. Poor project management and failure to manage contractors resulting in need to close site and go back for planning permission and problems like water contamination.

Councillor Gary Malcolm - Leader of the Opposition, said: “Liberal Democrats say this scheme is massively delayed and has had to be redesigned after the Council and Thames Water breached their own planning permission. We need to know why it is so late, how much it has cost the taxpayer and learn lessons to stop this from happening again. We hope the project can now be finished so local people can once again enjoy a really valuable local amenity.
