Liberal Democrats say poor services at Acton Pool are not good enough

Not enough is being done by Ealing Council say the Ealing Liberal Democrats

Facilities at Acton Pool are sub-standard and not acceptable say Ealing Lib Dems. This demonstrates Ealing Labour’s weak contract management in delivering services for its residents.

One example is that the ladies’ toilet facilities have been out of order for at least a year without any clear resolution, despite numerous visits and investigations on site by contractors. In addition, the heating of the pool itself is somewhat problematic due to a lack of foresight in decarbonising the site which led to the installation of noisy pumps which impacts local sound levels for resident and so limits their usage.

These are just the most recent examples of poor contractor management and follow on from years of mismanagement of social tenants being denied a decent and proper repairs for their homes!

Many residents from Acton and Ealing have been reporting their concern on the lack of resolution of these issues and below par services to their local Lib Dem councillors who have followed up and challenged for an explanation. Sadly, few residents have been updated by Ealing Labour due to the lack of demonstrable communication and leadership.

Councillor Athena Zissimos - Environment, Streets, Parks and Climate Change said: “Liberal Democrats say that Ealing Council have very few swimming pools that local residents can enjoy for recreational use, swimming lessons and lane swimming. There is nothing as exhilarating as finishing a lane swim, it lifts the spirits, and you know you have done good. As enjoyable as the pool is, one hesitates when the water is chilly and the showers are freezing, and all because the newly installed heat pumps cannot be turned on early enough to get the water for the pool up to temperature and the showers warm enough for those that swim early.

No thought was given to the amount of noise that the newly installed pumps would make, and what mitigation would be needed for the residential neighbours nearby, when first installed. Now the Borough is trying to work out what to do and make it happen, Acton pool has been having these ongoing issues with heating the pool water and the showers since October, we are now in December.

To add to pools woes, last year in December the one and only toilet in the women’s changing room was closed for repairs, it is still closed with no time plan of when this one and only toilet can be fixed and be re-opened. Meanwhile women have to drip wet from the pool, through the changing room, past the ‘dry area’ to use the mixed gender toilets available as soon as you enter the pool area. Liberal Democrats say it is simply not good enough.”
