More Police Station Closures Across London!
Ealing borough’s nearest 24hr police station is now 10 miles away in Charing Cross, central London!
There will be more police station closures and more limited hours to access them, such as Acton Police Station in early 2026!
This is a result of the Labour Mayor of London arnd Labour London Assembly members voting AGAINST practical amendments put forward by Liberal Democrats to halt these changes, keeping more police front counters open.
In Nov 2025, the Labour Mayor decided to close the front counter at night in Acton Police Station, meaning that the nearest 24hr police station is in Charing Cross in central London, 10 miles away! This is despite a pledge in 2022 by the same Mayor that each of the 32 London Boroughs would have at least 1 police station open 24 hours - for Ealing borough that was Acton Police Station.
This approach is a gamble with public safety with only two 24hr police stations in London serving its residents of almost 10 million residents. Recent data for the borough showed that Ealing is now London's top car crime spot.
Councillor Connie Hersch - Crime, Anti-Social Behaviour, Communities and Culture Spokesperson, said: “Ealing Liberal Democrats are appalled at the abandonment of the most vulnerable in our borough who are denied safety and access to 24-hour face-to-face access to police services. The limits on police services is part of a Labour-led decline spiral of safety and security despite the need to tackle more anti-social behaviour often around transport hubs and in areas, such as West Ealing. It is a shame that Labour's London Assembly members voted against the Liberal Democrat amendment to keep these police stations open. Liberal Democrats want to see a safe Ealing and with Labour in charge, many do not feel safe anymore.”
