Abdi Ahmed
Your Lib Dem candidate for North Acton
Abdi Ahmed is a lifelong Ealing resident, having arrived here with his family as refugees when he was just five months old. He knows firsthand what it is like to struggle with rising costs, feel ignored by the council, and see how the council's failures directly hurt the well-being of local people.
He wants to be a councillor because North Acton desperately needs a fresh start. The area has been taken for granted by Ealing Labour for years and was further let down by the sudden resignation of the area's sole Green Party councillor just 10 days into the job, costing the borough's taxpayers £40,000.
Professionally, Abdi works as a Parliamentary Researcher for a Liberal Democrat MP, specialising in local government finance and housing policy.
Having recently stood in East Acton, Abdi has spent hours listening to local people on their doorsteps. As a fluent Somali speaker, he will use his community insight and parliamentary experience to engage with the ward’s diverse neighbourhoods and give North Acton a strong voice at the Town Hall.
Top Priorities for North Acton
- Cleaning Up North Acton: Abdi will work with residents, community groups, and the Council to clear fly-tipping hotspots, boost street cleaning, and ensure dumped waste is removed swiftly. North Acton deserves clean, well-maintained public spaces we can all take pride in.
- Making North Acton Safe: Abdi will work alongside residents, local organisations, and the police to crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour. He is campaigning for greater police visibility and targeted crime prevention to keep our community safe.
- Listening to Residents: Ealing Council must stop treating consultations as a box-ticking exercise. Abdi will fight for genuine community engagement, real transparency in Town Hall decision-making, and services that actually reflect the needs of local people.
